A very Blue Card

Hello !

I am back with another card using Create a Smile products for the Challenge of this month.

I must say when I first read the theme I was very disappointed because I honestly don’t like this color. But hey I wasn’t about to let it stop me, all the more so that my favourite Distress Ink color is Peacock Feather (yeah it’s blue, go figure… ^^).

It so happens that I had a baby boy card to make so I thought I would make it blue for the challenge ! Ordinarily I prefer not to systematically choose blue for boys and pink for girls but a girl can make exceptions… 😉

So let’s dive in : I wanted to create a vibrant blue background using my distress inks and I chose the ink blending method. The colors of Distress inks are Peacock Feathers, Mermaid lagoon and Faded Jeans. Once this was done I thought it was a little too vibrant so to soften it a little I used the ‘bleach technique’ except I only used water. I took the Bokeh Dots stamp set from Ellen Hutson and instead of using ink I spritzed a little water on my stamps and then stamped them directly on the background. I waited 4-5 seconds before lifting up my stamps to let the water move the Distress ink. The result is not precise but that’s not what I wanted because I then took a 20160805_183138_1470418259532Uniball Signo Glitter Silver pen and traced roughly the circles and added spirals. Like I said I don’t like blue BUT the combination of blue and silver I find is soooo beautiful and classy ! I love the result !

I finished my card by adding a funny Create a Smile critter from the « Big Time » stamp set that I colored using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers with a little speech bubble with a heart from the « Perfect Tune Stamp set ». I used some light Vellum paper underneath to make the critter pop more from the otherwise very 20160805_183126_1470418259791distracting background.

Finally I stamped my greeting from the « Big Time » set using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

I really like this card. I mean if you absolutely HAVE TO use blue, might as weel use it for real right ?!  😉

I hope you like the card and don’t hesitate to go check the Challenge page on the Create a Smile Blog.

A rainbow for the new year

Here I come again with yet another card using a stamp from Create a Smile.

I used the Letters background the very day I received it and created a bunch of backgrounds but I had not turned this particular one into a card yet. Now I have…

I love this background and I enjoyed coloring it very much.

I just love using a rainbow of colors when I color something because it is so bright and colorful and it makes me happy just looking at it…

Here I used my Prismacolor pencils and since the background was very busy and interesting by itself I kept the rest of the card very simple I just added two stripes of glitter paper on each side of the card and added the sentiment. It is Studio_20160111_162906« happy new year » in French heat embossed in gold on a banner using a Spellbinder die. And I added three hearts I die cut with an Avery Elle die set.

Don’t you love this background ? You can send any type of message with it and I just love it ! ❤

See you very soon with another card…

A colorful bouquet

Today I am presenting a card I made using stamps from the company I told you about : Create A Smile.  I wanted to try the technique of masking which consists in stamping the images one behind the other and use some masking paper so that the lines of the stamps wouldn’t instersect and make it as if the new images were behind the previous.

For this card I really wanted to create a simple design guest staring these beautiful stamps so I created a big bouquet.

I wanted to have something to color while I was staying at my mother’s house for Christmas so I prepared this before leaving and did it during my stay there using my Prismacolor colored pencils. I looove these pencils, they blend wonderfully20160105_105807-1 with almost no effort. Once the colouring was finished, I used an odourless mineral spirit for oil painting to blend even more, but quite honestly the difference wasn’t all that obvious because these pencils do a great job on their own…

To finifh my card I simply added the sentiment heat embossed in gold « félicitations ! » (congratulations in French) and I used a clear wink of Stella glitter pen to add shimmery accents on my card. What I used is the pen version of the Wink of Stella glitter, not the brush. The tip is much more precise which allows me to accents lines and very small areas easily.

I am also letting you know that if you are interested, Create a Smile is looking for a guest designer for the month of February. So if you like their products as much as I do, head over to their blog and create a card 🙂

Create a Smile ~ A German company

A few months ago I discovered a new German craft store and I wanted to talk about it because they are European and I love their stamp sets. I bought some setsimages a few months ago and I really enjoyed working (or rather playing) with them since they are very good quality stamps and you can find a good community on social media if you ever lack inspiration. They make other products than clear stamps. I personally don’t use them- not yet at least… The shipping price are very low since it is European which is quite good because not all but most of the good crafting companies or retail stores are American and to ship in France or in Europe in general can be very expensive if you add shipping and taxes…

Here are the four stamp sets that I ordered previously, two more are on their way right now and I already had a lot of fun coloring images and creating cards with them.
